At the end of last year, Willowmead, our supported living care service in Surrey, held an informative session for staff and residents on the importance of oral health.

Dr Joseph Nemeth, Periodontist, spoke about oral hygiene habits such as brushing, flossing, and limiting your sugar intake — all of which will help to avoid dental procedures and long-term health issues.

Maintaining your dental and oral health is a lifelong commitment. It is an essential part of your overall health and wellbeing. Poor oral hygiene can lead to dental cavities and gum disease, and has also been linked to heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

The team and residents at Willowmead listened intently throughout the session while also enjoying each other’s company, laughing, and sharing healthy food.

Bernadette O’Neill, Service Manager at Willowmead, said: “Our conversations throughout the session made us laugh and smile as we thought about our pearly whites, and learnt about oral care.”
