Yesterday we held the opening event of our new 12 bed Acute Mental Health Ward for men, Hope Ward, at our purpose-built Kings Norton Hospital in Birmingham. The service is now open and accepting referrals.

With support from our multi-disciplinary team (MDT), patients are able to work through their mental health needs in a safe and secure environment.

Staff at Kings Norton Hospital gathered to celebrate the opening with the ribbon cutting ceremony performed by Nash, our Expert by Experience. The Ward name ‘Hope’ stands for Helping Ordinary People Evolve and was chosen by the patients at the hospital.

Hope Ward is the third and last Acute Ward to open at King Norton Hospital, the service has two other Acute Mental Health Wards, Manor Ward, a 10 bed Acute Ward for men and Lakeside Ward, a 10 bed Acute Ward for women that both opened in December 2022.

Kerry George, Hospital Director said: “I am so proud of our team at Kings Norton Hospital, I am fortunate enough to work with an amazing team whose support and dedication I am so grateful for. Well done team Kings Norton Hospital and all those involved in helping us open our hospital.”
