Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in York opened its doors yesterday, Wednesday 3 July, to reveal the impressive results of its recent refurbishment. The open day was a great success, attracting notable attendees including local NHS representatives and former patients of the centre. A civic party also attended a preview of the open day earlier in the week, including The Lord Mayor of York – Councillor Margaret Wells, The Sheriff – Fiona Fitzpatrick, The Sheriff Consort – Geoff Cossins.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for the Woodlands team and current patients to show-off the beautiful facilities and stunning gardens. The refurbished centre boasts state-of-the-art equipment, modernised patient rooms, and improved communal areas designed to create a more comfortable and supportive environment for patients undergoing rehabilitation.

David Williams, the Service Director, led the tours offering guests a comprehensive look at the state-of-the-art gym and patient kitchen, as well as the patients’ vegetable garden.

Former patients who attended the open day shared their personal stories of how Woodlands helped them on their journeys to recovery. Some found it quite moving to be back as a guest, rather than as a patient. But they said the staff greeted them like family when they arrived!

The refurbishment project at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre is part of an ongoing effort to create a healing environment that supports both physical and emotional recovery, offering patients the best possible chance for a successful rehabilitation.
