We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) provision within our neurorehabilitation offering at The Laurels, our neurological rehabilitation and residential service for adults in Lincolnshire.

FND is a neurological condition impacting the way a brain’s network functions, rather than the brain structure itself. The cause of FND if unknown, and symptoms can vary from person to person, including limb weakness, seizures, fatigue, pain, and speech difficulties, amongst others.

The Laurels provides specialist post-acute rehabilitation and respite care, as well as management of long-term neurological conditions. Rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), our facility strongly promotes community rehabilitation. Following development work at the service, we will be accepting FND admissions to The Laurels from January 2026.

As part of the development at The Laurels to be able to offer this support, we will be recruiting new members into the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and providing training to support the existing wider team’s knowledge. We will be conducting refurbishment works to improve the facilities and introducing new therapy equipment, including robotics to enhance rehabilitation and outcomes for the people we support.

This is an exciting opportunity for our organisation to expand our reach, strengthen our expertise and provide person-centred care to individuals in need of support who have often been underserved. The introduction of this addition to our offering reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in neurological rehabilitation. We are incredibly proud of what this means for The Laurels and the difference it will make in the lives of those we support.
