One of our amazing Care in the Home clients, Thomas, has made a truly remarkable recovery after battling a life-changing medical crisis almost 3 years ago.

Since being able to return home a few months ago, following his treatment at our Lane Fox Remeo Respiratory Centre in Surrey, his recovery has continued steadily at home with the support of his dedicated support team managing his complex medical needs.

Our Care in the Home division provides Thomas with a personalised and bespoke care package, which has made all the difference to his successful recovery, and has in turn also had a positive effect on his family, and enabled him to maintain his dignity, and links to his local community, which is of great importance to him.

Thomas’ wife Lyn commented recently about the difference his team has made to both their lives, “When he (Thomas) was in hospital for nearly two years, I was rattling around this house on my own, thinking he would never come back here. Now with his team in and out, it’s busy and like a little family looking after him”.

With grit and determination, Thomas has been achieving many of his rehabilitation goals, as he is now able to stand unassisted for 10-15 seconds at a time, walk independently with his frame, and self-propel his wheelchair. He’s even been doing some DIY around the house and managing trips to the local pub with his family and support worker – more amazing achievements!

When Diane, Thomas’s care manager, recently visited him and congratulated him on his progress, Thomas said that it was due to “the lovely staff that you are sending me”.
