We held a step challenge to see which team could gather the most walking steps in January. It was a great way to stay active during the winter months, and was also beneficial to our wellbeing.

Each week, the teams headed out for a walk and counted their steps as they went. Colin Mitchell, our Head of Health and Safety, organised the challenge. He said:

“I just want to say thank you to the teams for getting involved in the step challenge in January 2024. It has been greatly appreciated, and I hope everyone got something out of it (hopefully not blisters), and may we all carry on the good habit of regular daily exercise. It really helps our physical and mental health.”

Sharon Davis, our Learning and Development Manager, shared her January step challenge journey. She said:

“The January step challenge inspired me to get up and walk much more than I would have normally, especially during my lunch breaks.

“The step challenge also inspired me to sign up to The Conqueror challenge where you can complete different forms of exercise such as walking, swimming, cycling or running. In this challenge, I managed to complete 50 miles in 20 days. I really felt like I achieved something.

“Without the step challenge, I wouldn’t have completed The Conqueror challenge, and I certainly wouldn’t be out walking at lunch time. Thank you, Colin, for inspiring me to become more active.”

The results of the January step challenge were:

HR and training team — 296, 072 steps.

Quality team — 250, 038 steps.

A huge well done to everyone that took part in the challenge — we can’t wait for the next one!
