We’re excited to announce the official opening of the new Fig Tree Café at Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre! The café was opened last week by one of our patients, David, who loved being able to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony!
Previously, there was no place for patients and visitors to go for refreshments while they are there. The new café solves this problem by providing a welcoming space to get affordable food and drinks.
The café was made possible thanks to funding from the Glamour Your Manor award the team there received last year. They repurposed their old dining room, making it into a more attractive and inviting café setting.
The name “Fig Tree Café” was chosen by their activities coordinators and our patients. There is also a new coffee machine, so they can serve delicious hot beverages to patients, relatives, and staff.
Each day, various lunch options are available for the team, patients and family members. They are also starting new “café groups” where patients can assist in selling cakes, treats, and other items to other patients and family members.
The café’s branding was generously donated by stickerit.co, which is owned by the husband of their Deputy Lead Occupational Therapist, Jess.
They also have lots of other ideas from patients and the team to continue enhancing the Fig Tree Café experience. Stay tuned for more updates!
We invite you to stop by and check out the new café the next time you visit Frenchay. The Fig Tree is sure to become a popular gathering spot!
