About Mental Health Nurses Day

Since the first celebration in 2019, Mental Health Nurses Day has reached over 10 million people worldwide, with thousands of nurses engaged in hundreds of events.

It was first launched in February 2019 after a small group of nurses from the Royal College of Nursing’s Mental Health Forum decided the specialist field had been quiet in the background for too long!

The annual event is to celebrate and acknowledge how far the profession has come and how far it still has to go, facing global economic, environmental, clinical and ethical challenges in the future and to encourage interest in the mental health nursing speciality, raising awareness and debunking stereotypes.
