Louise Formston, our Business Development Manager for our Care in the Home Division, represented her Town Council as Mayor this Remembrance Weekend.

In May 2023 Louise was appointed Town Mayor of Towyn and Kinmel Bay.

We asked Louise about her role as Mayor on Remembrance Weekend. Louise said:

“Remembrance Day is a day where we remember all those that gave their lives, so that we can live ours. It is a day to reflect and pay thanks to those who served our country. It was a heart-warming day and was so lovely to meet our veterans yesterday.

“Towyn and Kinmel Bay have a Memorial to the fallen heroes at our local Church. On Remembrance Day I represent the Town Council as Mayor, wearing my Mayoral Chain of Office. My duty is to lay a Wreath on behalf of the Town Council.

“I feel incredibly proud of my role as Mayor, and I am always out and about meeting and talking to our people.

“It is an absolute honour to serve my community and to wear the chain of office. The chain of office represents the responsibility, authority and dignity which are attached to the office of the Mayor, and consists of two parts – the chain itself and the badge.”

“The poppies on my hat were made by senior residents of my community. They were made especially for me to wear at the service.”

Louise is very busy in her role as Mayor in the lead up to Christmas. She said:

“I have many more future engagements as we lead up to the Christmas period. I will be busy visiting local care homes, going to see school performances, and attending many church services.”

Well done Louise!
