Specialist neurological rehabilitation and neurobehavioural services.

Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre is a purpose-built facility set on a 3.5 acre plot surrounded by mature woodlands and well-maintained grounds. The service has 27 en-suite bedrooms. 20 of our rooms have ceiling tracking hoists from the bedroom to the en-suite.

The team delivers high-quality and intensive neurological rehabilitation; physical, cognitive, functional and vocational assessments, behavioural management and complex disability assessments for adults.

We support patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke and spinal cord injury.

The interdisciplinary team is led by a consultant in rehabilitation medicine. Patients benefit from access to our neuro-specialist team consisting of a junior doctor, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, therapy technicians, specialist nurses and rehabilitation assistants.

Specialist nurses are able to provide care to those with ongoing neurological nursing needs, diabetes, epilepsy, wound management, stoma care, enteral feeding and management of long-term intravenous access points.

We receive input from other professions allied to medicine, including dietetics, orthotics, podiatry, and wheelchair services.

Through our person-centred and evidence-based approach to rehabilitation, we aim to maximise independence and recovery while equipping people with the skills to return home or to a supported environment.

Individuals and their family work with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to set goals around their physical progress, functional abilities, future independence, leisure and work activities, and communication. The service has a fully-equipped therapy gym, occupational therapy kitchen, TV lounge, sun room, large reception area, dining room and leisure room.

We’re committed to raising standards and improving outcomes for our patients and have put in place a range of measures to establish a robust and integrated quality and governance strategy.

Conditions we support, but are not limited to:

  • brain injury
  • spinal injury
  • stroke
  • progressive neurological conditions
  • Huntington’s disease
  • neurological rehabilitation
  • cognitive rehabilitation
