Gunnersbury Avenue is a charming Victorian Supported Living home located in Ealing, West London. We’re committed to helping every person we support, through a holistic approach to care, we’re able to support people with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury and/or physical disabilities to ensure they live fulfilling, rewarding lives how ever that looks for them.
We have extensive knowledge and experience of supporting people with epilepsy, acquired brain injury, mental health issues and autism. We have established links with the mental health support networks in our area, along with epilepsy groups and LGBTQ+ groups.
Our passion is to support people on their rehabilitation pathway, developing their skills and further rehabilitation in a community setting. We aim to enable the people we support to move into their own property, or back home. The team work proactively with the people we support to develop or relearn life skills such as cooking and house hold skills, financial skills as well as learning to develop coping strategies for times of anxiety
Where required, our ethos of delivering support through the fundamental principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)is also in place. The aim of our PBS framework is not merely to reduce levels of challenging behaviour for people, but to improve quality of life. The care and support we provide is bespoke to each resident as we understand no-two people are the same, therefore we interact with all residents and encourage them to be fully involved in the development of their individual person-centred plan, enabling us to provide the best possible care for them, reflecting their wants and needs, supporting them to grow, and learn, and reach their full potential.
We promote a homely atmosphere which we feel develops core skills for the people we support to become more independent. The service has a large lounge area and a separate TV lounge. Our beautiful outdoor space offers a mature garden with a gazebo. Our garden space is ideal for hosting social events, BBQ’s, and other events to ensure we support people to maintain their important social networks.
People living at Gunnersbury Avenue can be supported to access the community with staff if needed and we can also support people to build their confidence to enable them to go out alone. Ealing Town Centre is nearby with amenities including supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants and clothing stores. Service Users will be signed up to a local GP and supported to attend appointments if required.
Our person led approach is driven through bespoke support plans and outcomes for people. Where required, our ethos of delivering support through the fundamental principles of Positive Behaviour Support is also in place. The aim of our PBS framework is not merely to reduce levels of challenging behaviour for people, but to improve their quality of life.
