Adult Learning Disabilties Service in County Durham

Located in Hartlepool, County Durham we support people with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs towards building confidence and independence. At Burbank Mews we treat each resident as an individual, listening to their wants and needs so we can tailor a package of care and environment which reflects our residents wishes.

Burbank Mews is a purpose-built service for people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. The service ethos is based on the principles of enhancing quality of life through positive behaviour support and we can support people who present behaviours that challenge. We can support twelve adults in single occupancy accommodation which has ample space for people with sensory needs as well as separate rooms for staff.

Each resident’s care starts with a support plan, considered to be a live document, which changes as often as people we support change. In addition, each resident has a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plan which is used in conjunction with the support plan and is crucial in supporting people towards an improved quality of life.

Located at the heart of the community, people are supported to access local educational, employment and leisure opportunities. Burbank staff work closely with the community teams for people with learning disabilities, including psychiatry, psychology, SALT and Occupational Therapy and support opportunities for community integration by developing links with employers and other local services.
