Kibblesworth, our neurological rehabilitation and residential service in Gateshead, has proudly maintained its “Good” rating in their latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) report. They were rated “Good’ overall and “Good” across all five key lines of enquiry (KLOEs). This achievement reflects the continued dedication of the team to providing high-quality, person-centred care for individuals with complex neurological and physical health needs.

The report, based on a thorough inspection, praised Kibblesworth across all key areas: safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness, and leadership. Inspectors noted that residents feel well-supported, with staff described as “kind and respectful.” Furthermore, the service’s commitment to individualised care planning ensures residents receive tailored support, fostering independence and improving overall wellbeing.

Another notable strength that was highlighted was Kibbleworth’s thorough assessment process, ensuring risks to individuals were meticulously identified and mitigated. Safety measures were also commended, with robust protocols in place to protect residents from harm and ensure the effective management of medications. The team’s professional development was commended, showcasing how training and supervision empower the team to deliver excellent care.

The team were praised for their caring nature and dedication, with residents expressing satisfaction with the support provided. Residents said they feel “respected and valued,” which just shows how the team go about looking after them at the service.

Leadership at Kibblesworth also received recognition, with the CQC noting a culture of transparency and continuous improvement. Managers were described as approachable and effective, creating a supportive environment for the team and residents alike.

The service’s commitment to involving residents in care decisions stood out as another key achievement. Inspectors emphasised the collaborative approach taken to tailor care plans, reflecting the unique needs and preferences of each individual.
