We recently caught up with Jade, Care Manager, who has worked for Active Care Group Care in the Home for over 12 years now, supporting children and young people with a variety of complex care needs to live happy lives, while promoting independence in their own homes.

Jade’s journey so far

In June 2024, Jade was promoted into her current role as a Care Manager, and she now oversees children’s packages in Essex and Sussex.

When asked about what her motivation has been for working within the care sector, specifically within our Care in the Home division, Jade explained that she enjoys “making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families”.

Jade explained “I initially worked with individuals of various ages and medical conditions, performing both night and day shifts as a support worker, and I believe that my experience as a support worker has provided valuable insights into how packages operate from both operational and management perspectives”.

Jade explains what she finds most rewarding about her role

When asked what she finds most rewarding about her role, Jade remarked, “I enjoy participating in training sessions with support staff and visiting children and families. I am also happy to cover shifts when needed, as I believe maintaining hands-on experience is essential to delivering high-quality care.

Building trusting relationships with both children and families is something I truly value”.

Jade’s career progression continues, as she is now studying a University Degree course in Children’s Growth and Development alongside her role as care manager.

Jade explained how the course has “already deepened my understanding of young people’s needs, and how to support them effectively.”

Jade’s plans for the future

When asked what her next steps and plans for the future were, Jade said, “Once I complete this course, I plan to pursue a nursing degree to expand my skills and knowledge further.”
