Last Christmas, the young people at Ivetsey Bank Hospital gave us ‘The Snowman’. This year’s Christmas masterpiece is based on the story of Monty the Penguin, a John Lewis & Partners classic from 2014.
To recreate the love story, patients from each of the three wards made various art pieces using sgraffito, stop-motion scenes, AI, drawings and paintings. Even the music was made from scratch – not a backing track in sight! The video has been a collaborative effort from patients and education team members at Ivetsey Bank Hospital School.
Since returning from October half term, the school has spent the winter term’s Art and Performing Arts lessons creating the artwork and all of the musical parts. Recordings were finalised in the last week of term, and the art pieces were filmed and photographed in the final week to allow Interim Head Teacher Laura Johnson, to edit the music and the Art teacher to edit the visuals. Laura and one of our English teachers even paired up on some of the vocals and harmonies too!
We are absolutely blown away by the creativity, talent and time that has gone into this. A huge well done to all involved.
