Imogen Wood, our support worker for Care in the Home, is 18 years old and is brand new to the care sector. In her short time working for Active Care Group, she has made such an incredible impression.

Imogen was working for a client who sadly recently passed away from motor neurone disease. After working for her client and being inspired by her courage as she battled with the condition, Imogen is now running in memory of her client for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND).

Imogen’s client was described as being an incredible lady who leaves behind a young daughter and her husband.

Imogen said: “I am raising money for the MND Association after being a carer for a wonderful woman. She was one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met. Everyone who knew her would tell me about how dedicated, kind and funny she was. Unfortunately, I only met her two months before she passed away from motor neurone disease. After seeing the effects of the disease, and how this hurt her whole family, including her husband and her 6-year-old daughter, I really want to earn money for the MND Association to support them with the valuable work that they do. Any donation you can make would be truly appreciated, this cause really means a lot to me.

“To raise awareness of this terrible condition and to support the work the MND Association undertakes, I will be attempting to run 25 miles in three days in December. As a novice runner, it is going to be a big challenge!”

Diane Simpson, our care manager for Care in The Home said: “Imogen is an amazing lady. She is young and very new to the world of work and the care sector, and has done an incredible job for my client and her family”.

If anyone would like to support Imogen and this worthy cause, you can follow her progress and donate on her GoFundMe page.
