Hunters Moor, our neurological rehabilitation and residential service in Birmingham, opened their doors to the community last week, hosting a well-attended open day that showcased the facility’s latest developments and welcomed distinguished guests, including the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Ken Wood. The event was also attended by notable healthcare professionals, former colleagues from Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and representatives from partner organisations — such as NHS England, Moseley Hall Hospital, Stewart’s Law, and Rehab Without Walls.
The open day highlighted the significant investments made in refurbishing Hunters Moor, particularly the redevelopment of patient rooms to offer specialised care for individuals with tracheostomies. This project, led by Matron Megan Nannfeldt, represents a major step forward for the facility. Megan, who brings extensive experience from her work at the Central England Rehabilitation Unit (CERU), expressed her pride in the new facilities, stating, “I was proud to be able to show off the new tracheostomy rooms that have been developed. It has been a labour of love, and I look forward to our first resident in the upcoming weeks and to the further development of other rooms.
“It was also a pleasure to be able to show case all of the work undertaken to the Lord Mayor of Birmingham.”
Stuart Merriman, Service Manager at Hunters Moor, was thrilled with the turnout and the positive feedback received during the event. He commented, “It was a really enjoyable day, meeting with different healthcare professionals, the Lord Mayor and being able to showcase the upgraded facilities and environment here at Hunters Moor.”
The event was also an opportunity to celebrate the hard work of Hunters Moor’s staff and to recognise the high-quality care provided. Stuart added, “The positive comments received from visitors praising our wonderful care team was particularly satisfying.”
