Hall Road is upgraded to ‘Good’ in recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) report

Hall Road, our residential service for adults with autism and learning disabilities in Sutton, is celebrating the recent upgrade of its Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating to ‘Good’ overall following its latest inspection in January 2025.

The inspection found the service ‘Good’ across all three inspected areas: Safe, Effective and Well-led. Hall Road is now ‘Good’ across all five Key Lines of Enquiry.

Adeyemi Salawu, Registered Manager of Hall Road, said, “We are delighted with this upgraded rating. This is a great achievement, and I want to express my thanks to all the staff at Hall Road for making this happen.”

Safe

The inspectors found Hall Road to foster a proactive safety culture, focusing on openness and promptly addressing concerns.

Staff are encouraged to report safety events, which are thoroughly investigated, ensuring continuous learning and the embedding of best practices. Relatives were found to feel at ease raising concerns, knowing they would be acted upon quickly.

Staff also benefit from an open-door policy and regular discussions on how to improve care. Tailored care plans ensured safety and appropriate support for individuals, with ongoing improvements in risk management and the care environment.

Effective

Staff at Hall Road ensure effective care by involving individuals and their families in assessments and reviews.

Ongoing training and supervision enabled Hall Road staff to provide person-centred support, leading to positive outcomes, such as improved health and increased social engagement.

The inspection also found that staff monitored care effectiveness, respected people’s rights, and ensured consent and mental capacity assessments were conducted when needed, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Well-led

Hall Road fosters a positive culture based on transparency, equity, and inclusion. This ensures staff are motivated to deliver high-quality care aligned with the Active Care Group behaviours. Staff feel supported and empowered, with open lines of communication and regular meetings to address any concerns.

Leaders at all levels demonstrated effective, inclusive management, making improvements based on feedback from staff and families. Continuous learning was emphasised, with regular audits and improvements to care practices.

The service maintained transparent accountability systems, ensuring care was consistently monitored and improved.

This final report upgrade reflects the dedication and hard work of the Hall Road team.
