Conifer Lodge, our residential service for adults with learning disabilities and autism in Cambridgeshire, recently hosted a festival-style celebration, bringing the spirit of Glastonbury to the individuals we support, their families, and staff.

The entertainment was provided by The Legends, a band formed of Conifer Lodge staff past and present. Elizabeth, Debbie and Lewi from the team were joined by former colleagues Ashleigh and David to perform a mix of nostalgic favourites and modern hits.

From “Rhinestone Cowboy” and “Take Me Home, Country Roads” to “A Bar Song” and “Austin,” the music had something for everyone. In true festival fashion, the band even played “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” as a light-hearted nod to the wet weather.

The stage, set up on the activity platform and covered by a marquee, kept the show going despite the rain. Guests were given ponchos and cowboy hats, creating an authentic festival atmosphere. Alongside the music, there were plenty of games to enjoy, including lasso the horse, tin can alley and panning for gold. The Coinfer Lodge bar proved popular too, with refreshments served throughout the day.

No festival is complete without great food, and Senior Support Worker Claire, supported by Rosie and cook Paula, served up lovely barbecue feast and salads.

Conifer Lodge Manager Nina and the wider staff team ensured residents and families had everything they needed, from endless teas and coffees to a warm welcome that brought everyone together.

The families of the individuals we support gave lovely feedback about the day and the way staff hosted the event. Here’s what they had to say:

  • “What a great day. The staff worked extremely hard and were incredibly caring. Great food, great music and great care – you should all be so proud of yourselves.”
  • “Always wonderful to be made so welcome to visit.”
  • “What a fantastic event! Thank you to everyone who organised the fabulous food and games. What can I say about The Legends – amazing, so professional, a music contract beckons!”
  • “The staff are very kind and caring, the home is clean and welcoming, everyone is treated with respect, and the atmosphere feels safe and friendly.”

The Conifer Lodge festival was a celebration of being together and a perfect example of the warm and supportive community created by the staff team.
