Inclusive planning
We ensure families and other key stakeholders, in addition to the individuals being cared for are involved in developing their own care plans and in choosing the way they live their lives whilst being encouraged to continue their hobbies, to try out new experiences and to learn new skills.
You have been fantastic; I cannot thank you enough! I’m very happy with the welcome we have had. The members of the team who helped us all move my loved ones’ belongings were lovely. My loved one thinks his flat is amazing! I am very grateful to everyone who supported his move. Thank you so much.

What is Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)?
Evidence-based approach
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a proven, evidence-based approach focused on enhancing the quality of life of an individual with learning disabilities and/or autism.
Compassionate, personalised care
PBS uses comprehensive assessment and data analysis to identify the function of behaviours of concern, enabling the development of function-based, constructive strategies that proactively prevent these behaviours and effectively manage them when they occur.
Specialist support team
The PBS team at Active Care Group, including our Group Positive Behaviour Support Lead and Regional PBS Practitioners, work to deliver strategies within our services that will improve the quality of life of the individuals we support.
Driving positive outcomes
Our goal is to support lasting change by helping individuals build meaningful routines, develop confidence, and lead more fulfilling lives – all within environments that prioritise dignity, respect, and choice.
Benefits of Positive Behaviour Support
The PBS team, including our Group Positive Behaviour Support Lead and Regional PBS Practitioners, work to deliver strategies within our services that will improve the quality of life of the individuals we support.
Improved quality of life
Our positive strategies lead to significant improvements in daily living and overall well-being for individuals.
Empowerment and independence
The PBS team, including our Group Positive Behaviour Support Lead and Regional PBS Practitioners, work to deliver strategies within our services that will improve the quality of life of the individuals we support.
Support for families and carers
We provide resources, training, and ongoing support for families and caregivers, ensuring they are well-equipped to support their loved ones effectively.
Reduction in behaviours of concern
With proactive and consistent support, individuals often experience a significant decrease in the frequency and severity of behaviours that may have previously negatively impacted their quality of life. This, in turn, leads to greater inclusion, improved relationships, and enhanced participation in everyday activities.
Our Positive Behaviour Support approach
We begin with thorough assessments to understand individual’s strengths, challenges, likes and dislikes. This helps us develop personalised care plans that are both effective and respectful.
Our staff teams collaborate with individuals, families, carers, and professionals to design and implement customised strategies. This ensures a consistent and supportive environment across all settings, from home to the community.
We focus on teaching new skills and replacement behaviours that serve the same function as the behaviours of concern ensuring individuals’ needs are met in safer, more appropriate ways.
PBS is a continuous process. We regularly monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure care plans remain effective and responsive to individual’s evolving needs.
