Active Care Group was delighted to participate in this year’s Maybo’s Masterclass & Conference, at the Radcliffe Centre, University of Warwick, in Coventry.
The event brought together 120 delegates from various sectors to share ideas, insights, and best practices in behaviour support and training.
Maybo training refers to the conflict management, personal safety, and behaviour management training programs provided by the company Maybo. These programs teach skills to de-escalate conflict, reduce the need for physical force, and protect staff and service users in potentially dangerous or hostile situations.
Matthew Carpenter and Paul Richardson, Lead Behaviour Management Specialists at Active Care Group, delivered a highly engaging and interactive 45-minute presentation titled “Supporting Change.” Their presentation explored the challenges, key learnings, and mentoring processes involved in onboarding and supporting in-house Maybo trainers. They emphasised the importance of promoting confidence and consistency in delivering the Maybo program within a large, complex care provider.
The presentation received positive feedback, with delegates praising the processes we have implemented to achieve high standards in Maybo training, foster a better culture, and create safer healthcare environments.
Alongside Matt and Paul, Active Care Group was represented at the event by Amanda Pettitt, Head of Learning & Development, and the central senior Maybo trainers. Additionally, five local trainers from Holybourne Hospital, our acute mental health hospital for adults in London and King’s Norton Hospital, our acute mental health service in Birmingham. Together, they showcased our commitment to continuous improvement, professional development, and excellence in behaviour management.
Amanda Pettitt, Director of Learning & Development, said, “It was great for the team to come together and reflect on their achievements while also looking ahead with renewed energy. Matt and Paul provided a great overview of their trainer mentorship program, inspiring others within the sector.”
Paul Richardson, Lead Behaviour Management Specialist at Active Care Group, added, “It was a fantastic opportunity to present at this year’s Maybo Conference and showcase the innovative work being done at ACG. The feedback we received from delegates and other organisations was exceptional.”
Matt Carpenter, Lead Behaviour Management Specialist, said: “It was great to have the opportunity to showcase the work we have been doing within ACG and get some amazing feedback from other organisations within the sector about the positive work we are doing. It was great to have the team attend as we couldn’t do it without them all, and all their hard work and support.”
