Active Care Group has announced a significant expansion of our specialist adult mental health services in Lancashire, further strengthening our commitment to delivering person-centred care to adults with complex needs.
The expansion will create additional capacity at two of our established mental health residential services in the Lancashire area: Whalley Road and Oswald House, based in Accrington.
Whalley Road, a dedicated residential home for men living with mental health needs or learning disabilities, will increase its capacity by three beds, taking its total to twelve. The service provides nursing care, support, and rehabilitation to residents requiring long-term support or shorter stays before moving on to more independent living.
The team at Whalley Road works closely with each resident to build practical life skills, confidence, and emotional resilience, helping them take positive steps towards independence.
Oswald House, which provides specialist care for women with complex mental health needs, will also expand by two bedrooms, increasing its capacity to thirteen. This female-only residential service focuses on personalised rehabilitation plans, supporting residents to achieve greater independence and develop healthy routines that promote physical and mental well-being.
Both homes are staffed by dedicated multidisciplinary teams who offer tailored support to each resident. Active Care Group emphasises helping individuals grow their confidence and rebuild essential life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Active Care Group Chief Executive Officer Keith Browner said:
“We’re proud to expand our provision in Lancashire to meet the growing need for high-quality mental health services. At the heart of our approach is a belief in the potential of every person we support – to build independence, develop confidence and live fulfilling lives.”
The developments follow news that our new specialist adult mental health residential service for women will open later this year.
Located in Rishton, Lancashire, Bilberry Lodge will undergo development in the coming months to create a welcoming, safe environment for residents in need of mental health care and support. This 6-bed service will provide a space where the adults can feel secure and supported.
The expansions form part of Active Care Group’s broader mission to offer compassionate, specialist care that adapts to the needs of its residents and supports their journey towards greater independence.
